There is a lot of ambiguity in athletic department revenue and expenses, and different schools do it differently, so you can't compare easily one school with another. About the only number that has much meaning in athletic department financial statements is the overall revenue.
And secondly, we have a booster that will send our coaches on charter flights as needed. I assume that doesn't show up anywhere.
We aren't missing out on any recruits because we are being overly frugal, unless you want to argue that Bo should be more like Clappy the Clown and show up at midnight at a recruit's home in a stretch limo.

So Bo had a jet this weekend in Louisville. (I'm going to assume here) if the jet time is donated, expense is $0. He likely has a grand in hotels/meals.
Close spent the weekend in Minneapolis or some shit, likely driving a UW Vehicle. Assume he spent a Grand on hotels/meals/gas, whatever.
Now say, that the accounting method they're using to code expense puts these lines in "Meals", "Lodging", or a generic "travel". How much do you think the line item "recruiting" was hit? $0?
Were they recruiting? Did they spend a fuckton this weekend recruiting? Yes and Yes, they spent money in some fashion. Someone else may have paid for a good portion of it. That jet alone was probably worth $25k for the weekend.
Now, what are they putting to "recruiting"? Lodging in town for families visiting? Recruiting dinners in town where families were visiting? Mailers? Possibly.
How many times do you think Bo went to Minneapolis after practice to watch Taylor, Berggren, Bruisewitz play mid week? How can you do that? Yep. Private jet. I haven't costed that, but assume it's $10k a trip. The $60k number is just too fucking ludicrous to be any different. Personally, if I get back on the road, I will spend $25-$30k on 12 or so trips. Now have 4 guys out all summer, flying in private jets, doing the a fair amount of "local" stuff during the week. What is the real number? $200k? $250k?

How can State employees be allowed to use private funding to do their jobs without some controls? This just seems wrong. What am I missing in this arrangement?

And then that guy shot 36.7% through is first two years in college.

Maybe as a spot shooter but Thomas is a much better shooter.Thomas probably wouldn't have played much at UW either so far so it isn't a big deal.
How many scholarship guards have played for Bo for four years and never got on the court outside of garbage time? Has there been any? Highly likely Dearing will play the next two years, even if it's limited minutes. The only scholarship players I recall not playing have been the big guys.
I've seen Hauser play a number of times since he was a kid, my nephew played a lot of AAU ball against him in grade school and I went to a few games when they were close. He's one of those guys that probably would get an offer in certain years depending on the roster and scholarship availability. He's a shooter with some height. I'd love for Anderson from SPASH to walk on, but he'd have to turn down a bunch of scholarship offers in order to do that, that kid understands the game and is a winner. He will be a good player at a mid major.

Ryan can't tell us all what he's thinking and doing recruiting-wise. Those that want to follow are left with interpreting, analyzing, and yes, second guessing. Yes, he's been really good at selecting and developing talent, but he's also had some misses. And lots of people have opinions. All grist for the mill.
For the record, I think it's been at least a few weeks since someone has called for his dismissal as coach.
