many have asked--what does this mean about Wilson? Is Wis not in the picture that we took this kid? Or, to make room for Wilson, someone on schollie would have
to leave--right? Interesting timing...

I think it is hilarious to see the knee-jerk crowd doing what they do best over on the other board. Watching that is a perverse form of entertainment, kind of
like rubber-necking after a tornado.

This signing will test the true desires of the "more athletic" crowd.
Do they want more athletic players like a 6'6" wing who is still growing, can elevate, and shoots the rock? Or do they just want big names to brag about to their friends at other schools? |

I just posted on the thread over at BN. I believe it will be my last post ever on that board. I don't think that half the posters there would be happy
unless the staff signed top 5 recruiting classes every year and reached the Final Four every two years.

Has Stewart been reading this board? Freakin' hilarious opening line.
BK, I love the idea of the former, I don't care about the big names. Bo has proven he can coach and win without the McAA's. I've just been itching to see what he can do with a bit more athleticism to work with. Tucker flew under the radar. Devin Harris flew under the radar. Flowers wasn't anywhere NEAR the radar...and neither was his brother Jonté. I'm just hoping Evans comes in with a chip on his shoulder, sorta like Tucker had his freshman year.

Shouldn't that be enough for a little slack, like waiting...a month...to freak out about his recruiting and failure to attack at the beginning. What would these malcontents do if we had the 10th best coach in the country? |

This is the interesting question today. I think there are a lot of people who are thin-skinned at this point about any perceived criticism of Bo (and not without reason, I might add), and they perceive any questions about this signing as taking a shot at this recruit. I trust our staff implicitly, but you really do wonder what's up with giving out a schollie that many of us thought was earmarked for Wilson. Not so worried about signing five kids in one class and zero in the next, as I presume that one or two of these kids will end up redshirting anyway. Just wondering if there's another shoe that's going to drop... |

"Not so worried about signing five kids in one class and zero in the next"
Actually, they intend to sign a player in '09- Bruesewitz. Seems possible there will be two redshirts from the '08 group, which would make the classes 3 and 3. |

Diamond Taylor is also on board for '09. So if one guy redshirts, then we have three in the next class.

MontyFortyEight wrote: I have heard that Wilson was a silent verbal to MU and he was just wanted to honor his mother by announcing the commitment next year. If that is the case, Bo and the staff probably already had Evans in the works, maybe already verballed when the news about Crean leaving MU hit (seems likely from the insiders' hints this past week). Should Bo pull the scollie for Evans and hold it for Wilson? No way, Wilson (likely) already chose MU over UW, why should Bo expect he'll want to come to UW now? I'll take Evans, and I hope Wilson has a nice career wherever he ends up. ![]() |

So if Jamal is a silent verbal to MU, this would make mucho sense as naming Buzzy (assuming he was the main recruiter for Jamal). Various posts point to Jamal
interest in MSU and I wouldn't doubt now with IU.
Its BOLieveable.

Honestly, that kid is getting way too much play by the message board recruitniks. He's talented but he's not Carmelo Anthony, for heaven's
sake.
Gotta agree with Fran here. I'm guessing that most that are talking about Jamil Wilson on here (myself included) have not seen him in person. |

Everbody is acting like Wilson is gonna be the guy to take us to the promised land. I just don't see it. Is he a fine player, yeah. I'd love to see him
play at Wisconsin. But he isn't taking Wisconsin to the final four by himself. The best course for the staff to take, is exactly what they're doing. I
firmly believe that Bo Ryan is building a championship team at UW. One player that we get or don't get isn't going to do it.

One other thing I'll add, if Wilson wants to play somewhere else, I really wouldnt' be all that surprised. All he has to do is read some of these
message board posts and run for the hills. If he would come here and not win a national championship, he's gonna be a failure to many people. A lot of
people seem to be acting like he could be the savior of a program that really doesn't need a savior. That's pretty sad.

Lets hope he reads the Marquette board then as well. Hell he might not go anywhere to school based on all of the message boards.

If we are indeed the top program in the state (don't think anyone will argue this fact), is it not essential to snag the top players in the not so
basketball rich state of WI. We let Izzo snag Korie Lucious, and hopefully we don't let the best in state prospect in Wilson slip away.

Essential? Is there a need for absolutes here? If we don't get the best instate prospect every single year, how would that make us different from any other top school? Is there some problem you have with the program's recruiting? If there is, I'd like to refer you to BKBucky's post pinned at the top of the board. The talent is getting better and better, the results are there on the court, the fan base is energized, the local talent is improving, and lots of fine players want to be Badgers. We couldn't really say this at any point in the 50+ years prior to 2000. Your obsession with getting this one player is perplexing.
