Whether Krugman's economic insights are informative is debatable--I find Jim Rogers much more informed, articulate, and accurate--but he is at least consistent in tailoring his observations to advance his political agenda. I am impressed that he at least knows about the Onion.

I wonder if he realizes that this could be the last election he'll be able to influence to any significant degree.

Note that the Post now outsells the Times in NYC! I just can't see Murdoch keeping Krugman around when he takes over the Times for pennies/share, and Krugman does not write well enough (or have the apparent sense of humor) to catch on at the Onion.

The difference, whirly, is that the NYT---like cbs, nbc, abc WaPo,etc. ---CLAIMS, falsely, to be an objective reporter of news without any agenda. They claim to clearly separate any editorial agenda from their reporting. Newsbusters, American Thinker, etc. are, in contrast, honest and open about their agenda. It's a huge difference and one that really should be noted by anyone looking for information. You really should try reading something other than the propaganda that plays to your existing opinions. OTOH, maybe you should invest heavily in NYT stock---you know, put your $ where your mouth is. I think it is down about 50% in the last couple of years---a great time to buy. LOL

I wonder how many newspapers are giving away copies. I subscribed to the Raleigh News & Observer for years, despite the fact that it was totally in-the-tank Dem, but fairly honest about it. As their "news" became more and more agenda driven (partly through AP which seems to have abandoned objective reporting in favor of advocacy). One day they printed something particularly deceitful so we called and cancelled, telling them why. The paper kept coming so we called again, and again, and again. That was about three years ago and we still get the paper every day, but no bills.

They have sales people around on Sundays, grocery stores, flea markets, etc. giving away copies and trying to sell introductory subscriptions for extremely low prices. When pushed to buy, I have told the salespeople why I don't like the paper---they tell me they hear that a lot.

The Durham paper is reasonably balanced, other than running a lot of the AP biased stories, and they seem to be doing much better. No give-aways.
