(As 60 has already noted...despite reports to the contrary, Dany has not approved the trade by waiving his no trade clause and is "sleeping on it" before rendering his decision today). From what I can tell, everyone and their dog thought the July 1 deadline (due to the July 1 $4MM payout) was 12AM July 1. And when Heatley didn't waive the no-trade clause, it was reported that he "refused". Now the NHL says the Sens are off the hook for the payout if they trade him by the end of July 1, ie before 12AM July 2, and Heatley's agent says they knew all along that the deadline was 12AM July 2. Says Heatley wants to "sleep on it". How did Heatley know that the deadline was 12AM July 2 when both teams involved (and seemingly the rest of the world) thought it was 12AM July 1? Odd. Oilogosphere chatter speculates that Heatley prefers Edmonton to Ottawa but is hoping an offer from another team comes along before the deadline. 60 Minutes . . . No Alibis . . .
