No financial terms out there yet, but he agreeed to a 2 year deal. Depending on which other RFA's the Hawks bring back, he very well could be reunited
with Burish in Chicago this fall as a PKer/4th liner.

Wojo, thanks for the info; you're so cool! I knew Dowell's contract was up this summer, and I was waiting to see what would happen, so thanks for
keeping us all informed.
I sure hope Jake gets to Chicago a bit more regularly this season. |

60...I think Jake is ready to pair up with Burish on a PK unit and on the 4th line. We'll know in the next week or so as I think the key will be which of
the Hawk RFA's remain out of Fraser and Eager in particular.

More importantly to Dowell and Skille's future oppurtunity in Chicago, the Hawks also signed Hossa's best bud Kopecky to a 2 year deal and Madden to a
one year deal. Hossa replaces Havlat, but Kopecky is likely a 4th liner (with a chance of contributing occasionally as a 3rd liner). All of Brouwer,
Versteeg, Fraser, Eager, are RFA's and were given qualifying offers meaning the Hawks get a right to match any offer they get from another team (or lose
them for draft pick compensation if they don't like the terms) while they try to negotiate a deal they like. I suspect you will see a few of these players
(or another forward on the roster) go in a move to add a Dman before the season starts. I also think the Hawks probably would not mind trading a few pieces at
forward for draft picks/younger prospects as they really have a glut at forward and need to thin the herd a bit to give their next wave of Makarov, Skille,
Beach, & Aliu a chance to compete for a spot in Chicago.

Hawks are rumored to have reached agreements with RFA's Eager, Brouwer, and Fraser on extensions (there has been some speculation that the Hawks screwed up
their paperwork on the qualifying offers which might have made all their RFA's all UFA's, but these 3 signings seem to signal that report was BS...and
more likely sour grapes from Havlat's agent that has an ax to grind with the Hawks) . That only leave Versteeg as a questionmark of the guys that you sort
of expect will be back. As things sit at this moment, there are more forwards then spots in Chicago and I think it will be a tall order for Skille or Dowell to
crack the lineup. I do suspect the Hawks would like to upgrade their D corp and will likely move a forward or two to accomplish that.
