Fox no doubt would prefer a NY-LA WS. With the two biggest tv markets, and two teams with fan bases across the country, they'd probably get terrific ratings.

I have to disagree with you here, Old Boy. LA's TV ratings for game three of the fucking pennant were less than the NFL ratings for a game with no LA teams playing. LA is the 2nd biggest TV market, true, but they are in no way the second biggest MLB market, they are flaky fans, horribly entrenched in other activities, like gang banging, cross dressing, sprout shopping and plastic surgical procedures...I think that FOX is drooling about the prospects of the Yankees vs the Phillies, especially since both have rabid fan bases. Baseball and Tofu don't mix, but coney island dawgs smothered in spicy brown mustard or Chicky and Pete's cheesesteaks and a cold Yuengling do!

I am not counting any chickens yet, but the writing seems to be on the wall. I will start woofing when the time is right for dancing in the streets.

You may be right. But LA has 5.7 million TV households, compared with 3.0 million in Philadelphia. That means that even if the ratings are only a bit over half as high in LA as in Philly the number of households reached is about the same. It's number of households, not rating share, that advertisers covet, and that networks sell. LA just has a lot of households. (New York has 7.5 million.)

One portion of those 5.7 million are Angel fans. Another portion will be watching Barbara Streisand videos and replays of the Tony Awards. Still another portion of these 5.7 million will be running, jogging, surfing, biking, sitting in traffic on the 405/10/101 freeways and watching the Lakers in preseason NBA. DODGER FANS ARE A STEP BELOW BRAVE FANS for flakiness!! Really. Meanwhile, most of the 3 million viewers in Philly, Delaware, South Jersey will be glued to the TV's. Everything stops, bosses understand, schools get it, the bars love it and the fans go apeshit.

I look forward to our discourse in the near future. I like the match ups a lot and anyone calling this an AL lock is a moron and foolish. For now though, one game at a time...

100% agree. They could shorten to 154 games, they could have day/night double headers or they could stop this bullshit with appeasing TV and just play every day, like the players and fans want. 100% correct BAB...
