Plans for Tampa |

Well time to start planning the Badgermaniac/Buckyville golf outing in Tampa. My guess is we should play on the morning of New Year's Eve (i.e. Monday morning)

Golf aside, what about the really important plans: carousing the night before the game and tailgating on game day? The Fiancee and I will be there, but where should we be?
These ARE the good old days!

No golf for me, if I make it. I am interested whether the following individuals who I have yet to share a beer with shall be in attendance:
Boxcar Henry 4thngol Portage Plumber I am asuming for the purposes of my ultimate decision making that the maestro, Roadwin, shall be in attendance with the irrepressible fashionista. There are a number of usual suspects who I KNOW will be there. ***********

I will not attend. I would have liked to but some family health issues will not allow my attendance this year.
Boston Badger are you attending solo or is the best lawyer in Boston attending? |

It means all y'all are pretend cowboys.
I still wouldn't bet against any of you three in a drinking contest (unless it took place in the environs of a bowl game) ------------------

Well if there was a drinking contest at the bowl game, I just might have to attend.

Unfortunately, Portage, the Armenian Hammer will not be making the trip to Tampa, but he has assured me that he WILL be in Madison one saturday this fall.

Did he forget a wedding he was standing up in again?

Has anyone eaten at Lee Roy Selmon's restaurants? Seems a little franchise-y, but might be a good place to have a bite or two and watch some games in the Westshore/airport area. lee Roy was a fine player on some terrible Bucs teams.

Our group ate dinner there the night of the Outback bowl 3 years ago. Ribs were great. Nice menu and atmosphere. I would recommend it.

Even as a TB resident, I still look forward to dining at Selmon's several times a year. Good food, reasonable prices, nice bar, lots of TVs, lots of football stuff on the wall...
A fine place to visit for Badger fans visiting Tampa Bay. >O |

Can anyone give me a little guidance on the Outback Bowl ticket situation? There will be 6 in our party and have seen some mid-level corner seats for around $20 per on stub hub. Should we get after these or wait until gameday? It would be great to use the savings towards a family meal at Dewey Selmon's restaurant.
Thanks in advance. |

$20 each sounds like a no brainer, almost too good to be true for stub hub????
I have a buddy who wanted the best seats in the UW allotment, which I was able to get for him at $140 each. I know I would never pay that for this game. ------------------

Don't buy tickets ahead of time from anybody, unless you want to buy them from the ATO just to help UW's ticket sales (and you like paying the $20 "handling" fee). The market is already showing signs of being extremely soft. Sellers can't get a sniff asking for cost on various ticket exchange sites. Just bring a seating chart, be patient, and you will run into dozens of people who will be glad to recover just about anything for their tickets. And there will be several thousand empty seats, so you can sit just about anywhere you want (except that club seats will require a club level ticket). Last year I paid $25 at the CapOne, only because I knew the seller. The year before I paid $10. At Tampa 3 years ago I paid $50 for a $120 club level ticket.

I am really looking forward to this trip, however brief it will be (about 48 hours total). After about 3 feet of snow northwest of Boston without the calendar having yet officially hit winter (and more currently falling) the short hopefully sunny break may prevent me from going insane.
