Ian Markolf didn't come to US and say, "Sorry, I have fat feet so I need to wear New Balance." It's a known condition of a scholarship that you have to wear whatever crap they give you.

Exactly. Adidas only wanted UCF to live up to their part of the contract. Because it is Jordan's kid, UCF gave into the demand of a player. Of all the 100's of college players that had NBA dads this never was a problem. When MJ was at UNC he would have been on the bench had he decided to wear a different brand than his team.

If Nike steps in, Adidas should sue UCF for breach and Nike for tampering.

Back in the mid 80's, Clemson had some players from their secondary purchase Nike land sharks. They were black and they painted the swoosh black. On a nationally televised game a rep from the sponsor (Puma, iirc) spotted the contraband. Guess what the players wore the following week?
