Posts: 1524 11/07/09 1:59 PM	Down 8 to Purdue with just over 4 minutes left and Purdue has the ball. It almost looked like Michigan picked up a 4th and 10 after the running back going down lateraled it to a lineman who picked up the first down. After review though, they determined it was an illegal forward pass. Hard to say, but probably justice as Purdue got "Big Housed" a few minutes before hand after recovering a muffed punt only to have one of their players flaged for tripping/kick-catch interference. The Michigan plaer had tripped over his own feet with nobody close enough to warrant the call. If Michigan should lose this, tough for them to get bowl eligible with games against Wisconsin & Ohio State. Purdue killing themselves with penalties late. ricecloud9

Purdue had the ball with a little over a minute left, it was 4th down, the clock was winding down and Michigan had no time-outs remaining. Purdue let the play clock get to :01 and called time-out with 35 seconds left. Purdue then punted on 4th down, leaving Michigan with the ball on their own 10 yard line and 29 seconds left. The announcer said Purdue could have let the clock run and left Michigan with 5 seconds left. WTF? If Purdue runs a 4th down play and doesn't get the first down, the clock stops on a change of possession. If Purdue gets the first down, game over and the clock doesn't matter but that's not what the announcer was saying. That was maddening to hear the announcer say that. Fortunately Michigan lost...

I noticed Wayne Larrivee saying this as well. The analyst Chris Martin, not only agrees with him but then adds something like "well michigan does now have 90 yards to go for a score." I think it might've been Bob Griese -- a former PU QB whose son played for Michy. I think at this point, if I were a Michy fan, I'd would rather lose the last two than become bowl-eligible and play in the Little Caeser's (Motor City) Bowl. If Mich is not competitive against Bucky & Brutus, things could get interesting for DickRod.

He leaves his right tackle alone against one of the best pass rushers in the league, and his very mobile QB does a 5 step drop in the pocket, where he is promptly sacked.
