They were talking about this on the radio this morning...they mentioned that some guy drove up from Illinois to shovel. Wow. That's insane.

I hope they do a good job because I don't want to be sitting in a snow drift on Sunday.

Some friends and I actually did this a couple of years back. We had just watched Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, and were kind of feeling adventurous.
At about 11 PM, we drove from Milwaukee to my college house in Madison, Not a bad way to make $8 an hour (tax-free). And besides, I've only been inside Lambeau for 2 preseason games; just being inside that stadium is a treat. |

Quote: Have you ever been to my driveway before? Want to come over and find out what "a treat" it is to shovel it? I guess this story honestly begs the questions : "Why do the Packers even pay a grounds crew or maintenance staff?" If they can bet 600 people to show up in the freezing cold to shovel snow, are you telling me they couldn't get volunteers to mow the lawn, paint or even clean the sh1tters? Honestly, anyone who drives up to Lambeau to shovel snow should only arrive via a short bus. |

So shoveling snow for 8 bucks an hour inside Lambeau field makes someone mentally disabled?
Please explain. |

Heaven forbid anyone actually take pride in their team and have a little civic involvement, ETR and Timster

I can't imagine doing it every time it snows, but I think doing it once would be neat for the novelty factor.
ETR, the next time your driveway is considered a holy shrine to sports fans everywhere I'll come over and shovel it for you-for $8 an hour. for the record, I've never shoveled snow at Lambeau and I don't ride a shortbus. |

The next time you are feeling adventurous, come on over to the legendary Casa de Henri on the west side of Madison. I'll pay you $9 an hour and it won't eat into all of that gas money. If you do a formidable job, I'll make you some hot cocoa and print up some snazzy stock certificates...in color.

Because the Packers are something special to their fans.
If I have to justify someone's fandom every time they do something that happens to strike you as ridiculous, we could be here awhile. -------

NT. Not getting personal. It was a fun, spontaneous experience that I enjoyed, and got paid for. I just can't afford to get into Lambeau any other way.

I have never done it, but I would for fun at least once if I lived closer.
Can anyone just do something for the fun of it? Also on purchasing stock. I wish I would have done it when it was available. I would do it now if I could. Have a few extra dollars now. It is not completely worthless. I believe you get invited to the shareholder meetings each year and get tours that are not normally available to everyone. |

I'm sorry if my glib comments offended some. I understand being a fan of something (hence being here). That being said, I am a huge, huge fan of Radiohead and I love seeing them play live, would love to pick their brains about music etc., but I'm not about to go scrub Thom Yorke's toilet just to say I've been in his house. There's a fine line between fan and groupie, and I think each of deserves a friend to point it out for us from time to time.

i think scrubbing a toilet and shoveling snow for $8 an hour are quite different.
i think, as a friend, i should point out that nobody is nearly as cool in person as they are behind their computer. and yes, i've shoveled my elderly neighbor's snow and mowed her lawn enough to be a pallbearer at her funeral. |

It could be argued that someone with over 1900 posts on a sports message board needs to get a life, also, but I'm not one to impose judgement on someone's interests.
