Check your messages. I responded to you Friday morning. For anyone else reading this, I do NOT have any tickets except for those that have already paid me. If you're interested in purchasing the $85 tickets before they go on sale to the general public, please PM me. I cannot guarantee that you will be sitting with the other Badger fans that have already paid because the deadline for that ticket order I placed was Friday, June 29th at noon PST. You all should know that cheaper tickets will probably be available eventually but there are no guarantees and they will also be much further from the field and in less comfortable chairs/benches. When the time comes I will start another OSU tickets thread to help you guys get the best seating location considering factors like covered seating, no-back bleacher seating, views of the Dam Cam, the more comfortable individual seats, etc. For now, either place an order with me for the $85 tickets immediately, or wait until they go on sale to the general public and watch for my informational thread. We also have a new field turf going in presently, the Badger game will be the second game played on it after the national powerhouse known as the Nichols State Colonels.

Rainier, going down to Crater Lake, and hopefully seeking out the whales....and a unique opportunity to watch UW play on the west coast.

Depoe Bay is generally considered a great place to see whales. I have never personally taken a whale cruise in Oregon because I've seen them from the shore so many times over the years so I cannot vouch for any specific cruise company. If I were making a rare trip to Oregon, I would seriously consider this trip. I've been stifled twice when planning a Crater Lake trip due to fast changing weather conditions. Also, make the short side trip to "The Pinnacles".

Posts: 924 July 2, 2012 5:03 PM	I'd also recommend Depoe Bay if you are going from the Oregon Coast (probably have a better chance of seeing Gray whales at Depoe Bay and Orca's from the Puget Sound). Depoe Bay generally has a few whales that summer off of its coast in the kelp bed...but as Jason said, the migration season is earlier in the year. I think Orca's are still around in the Puget Sound during September. I think I used tradewinds twice and enjoyed it both times. Crater Lake is awesome...absolutely incredible.

The migration of white whales in Wisconsin began when Culver's began introducing butter burgers to the masses...and then Kewpie's in Rat Town (putting liver in their burgers for extra oomph!) did them one up and then processed cheese outsold cheddar and before you knew it, the Orcas from Sheboygan were out of control!! Bald Badgers not as prevalent as Beaves, but DOB will kick your collective asses. Keeping it real since 1995... Minnesota is Native-American for BAD AT FOOTBALL...

However, thinking of getting a room for Friday and Saturday in Albany, which is only 10? miles away...due to price. We can always drive over to Corvallis for any pregame or something else that's there. But any major downsides in staying in Albany that we should be aware of? We'd probably fly into Portland on Wed and do a 101 drive down the coast from Astoria and then over to Corvallis for the game. Then down CA to San Diego afterwards. Don't have flights yet...but we've got to move on it pretty soon if we're going to go. Advice/comments pls.

Posts: 245 July 17, 2012 8:49 AM	Staying in Albany should be no problem, I've done it myself. I'm surprised that motel rooms are that much cheaper in Albany than Corvallis, have you researched this? The drive you propose is a good one; Portland to Astoria will take you along the last 60 miles of the mighty Columbia river, following Lewis and Clark's route. As you peer across the mouth of the Columbia to the Washington side, imagine crossing that river, in a dugout canoe, in winter, before the river was dammed or there were jetties! On the other side of the river is a small park named "Dismal Nitch" by the expedition. Google their story to see how bad this little side adventure was for them. Astoria to Newport is classic Oregon coastline then you can head back east to Corvallis on Hwy 20 through Toledo, my wife's hometown. Fun!

Any real issues there? We are making a week of it and spending a few nights in Astoria before the drive down to Newport and then to Portland after the game. I can't wait for the local beer and hopefully some naked beavers.......not all that interested in fist fights though.

You won't encounter abnormal traffic coming from that direction. If you're driving to Portland after the game however you can expect SERIOUSLY horrible traffic, especially with a Fresno State Bulldogs game ending shortly after the Beavers/Badgers game. I would strongly recommend staying in Corvallis or nearby Saturday night and enjoy the festivities, then make your drive to Portland on Sunday. Flat Tailgate Society may hit you up to pick up an order of live oysters on the way to the game! As part of SaguaroFest IX we're having an oyster feed and they are best fresh from the water. Here is where we like to get 'em in Newport. The only problem is you'll probably be driving in a fully packed rental car and we'll need several dozen oysters.

Eugene is much bigger and contains a larger percentage of the yuck fan-base, however there is still a large percentage of yuck fans that travel to games from Portland also. This leads to a seriously heavy traffic flow on I-5, the only way to get from Portland to Corvallis and Eugene. With the Duck/Fresno Bulldogs game kickoff time at 3:30 you will either want to leave Corvallis immediately following our game, or wait until much later in the evening to allow traffic to die down. Exactly how bad is the traffic? Well it's pretty heavy unless you have only ONE accident somewhere along the line, then it turns into a nightmare (been there more than once). My opinion is you'll be fine if you give it till around 10pm before leaving Corvallis.

Posts: 1 August 5, 2012 11:49 AM	Hey all I'm a UW alum that lives in Brownsville, OR, about 30 miles from Corvallis, out in the beautiful Willamette Valley countryside. I operate a 20 acre hazelnut orchard and live with my partner in the old 1850's farm house located on the land. We have a beautiful space and would love to welcome any and all badger alum to visit. Maybe a group of folks reply and we put together a barbecue or bonfire or whatever have you. We also have at least one available bedroom and plenty of camping space, even a couch that I would be happy to offer up. Did I mention I'd like to tailgate/go to the game with other Badger fans?
