It's hard to put an exact number on it, but I think a fair number for the officials' differential was probably about 9 or 10 points. It's almost hard to believe then that UW could get outhustled really badly at times, shoot 34%, have MSU shoot 52.2%, and we are probably looking at a 4 or 5 point game with the point adjustment factoring in if the game had been properly officiated.

Our only hope for any kind of run in the NCAAs is getting hot for a couple of games and maybe mixing in one where the other team just stinks it up and there is a grind out 52-47 type. Since they seem to shoot well once every 4th of 5th game against major conference or NCAA caliber opponents I wouldn't say the smart money is on a Final Four run.

Posts: 1885 February 16, 2012 10:47 PM	When you get the production the Badgers get from the 2 and 3 on a near nightly basis I think of two things. 19 and 7 is a miracle, take it and be thrilled. I can't believe there is nobody better to even try when they are so unbelievably limited on the offensive end. The Gophers, with a few occasional hiccups, were truly dominant basically from their inception all the way through the end of Bierman's first tenure (1941). Other than the 1961 and 1967 seasons, they've been more or less the same every year since 1941 - mediocre-to-poor. Since 1967, the Gophers have finished 3rd in the Big Ten three times. Of course, they've never finished 1st or 2nd in that time frame.

Not coincidentally, this is the first time Michigan State beat Wisconsin twice in the same season in the Bo Ryan era. As posted above, the fact Bo's worst team in 5 years is 19-7 with one of the nation's toughest schedules in this year's toughest conference tells you all you need to know about the state of this program.

If UW makes the Sweet 16 (and I think they can) it will be another successful run. I love this team, but if they had one other LEGIT guy that could create and score, it would be really nice. That said, I don't understand how things like . . . Bruiser can be absolutely dominant in last year's post-season and be so ineffective now... or how JB can be the star on the rise at North Carolina and fade away most nights.... or how Gasser can hit 13 threes in a row earlier this season and hardly pull the trigger now....or ....

Not Bo's worst team in five years. That would be '08-09 when they lost six straight and were a #12 seed. Knocked off #5 seed Florida State and were "upset" by a #4 seeded Xavier. I put upset in quotes because for Bo detractors they like to cite that as a loss to a mid-major instead of a loss to a team eight seeds higher.

It was painful to watch this happen, knowing against that defense someone, probably Taylor, was going to be forced to shoot a contested prayer that had virtually no chance of going in. Kaminsky was bound and determined NOT to shoot last night. One time he grabbed an offensive rebound and never even looked to see if he had a shot from 3 feet; he immediately pushed it back out to repeat the same futility. Berggren also passed up a few open 3's from the top of the key. The only guy that was actually looking for a shot early in the shot clock was Evans....and therein lies the issue.

I wonder why the Badgers looked for early shots in that game and have gone back to their clock draining ways. -Once Thornton hit those first two shots, I figured the Badgers were going to get run out of the gym. Just imagine how you would have felt about a game if Jarmusz hit two shots in the first three minutes last year. -Ryan Evans has become Alando Tucker light, right down to the rebounding prowess and terrible looking shot which goes in pretty often. Evans needs to become a better finisher and refine his post moves but he is already a better defender than Tucker. You heard it here first folks, Ryan Evans will be the Badgers #1 scoring option next year and will make second team all conference. -I'll continue to pound the Rob Wilson drum. He didn't play a ton but he gives this team something on the wing they do not have elsewhere. Since it seems impossible for both Gasser and Bruiser to play well in the same game, I would just give the minutes of whoever is struggling in a particular game to Wilson. Free Rob Wilson!

It makes for a somewhat anti climatic and boring season imo. Bo is doing a great coaching job. Asking him to let guys bomb away against better teams is a recipe for a blow out 90% of the time and an upset win 10% of the time.

Maybe according to the computers, but in no way would I categorize games at Purdue and at Illinois as games Wisconsin "should" win. I know that neither of those teams are great, or even good, but they don't have to be for good teams to lose there. Even Minnesota, to a lesser extent. Six, maybe seven road wins in the conference this year. That's very, very surprising. As for the Kaminsky comments and him not shooting the ball, that's pretty irrelevant to me. The guy's a true freshman giving us valuable minutes. If I had to guess, the coaching staff probably will go over the tape with him and tell him that against a defense like MSU, you have to take what's available, when it's available. Maybe he's a little trigger shy--that will go away over time.

Dekker should be a good one, and Marshall and Utoff will have a scout team season under their belt. I think Kaminsky is going to be big time for us when all is said and done. In October, I would have said Taylor was irreplaceable, but he's simply had a tough time when teams scheme to stop him. Don't get me wrong, JT is one of my all-time favs, but I think we'll survive his departure just fine. Safe to say 2012-13 will be a better squad than 2011-12?

I can 100% guarantee you that during film study today, Frank will be torn a new asshole by the coaching staff for passing up those shots.
