I've only watched him play hoops for my old school district; he's going to be nicely put together when UW's weight room has it's effect on him. Physical, well-coordinated athlete in hoops; I didn't pay any attention to him when I watched their football games--was watching Shelton instead.

Apparently, a lifelong friend of mine is Owen's (much) older cousin, I'll see if I can glean any nuggets. A pretty rare last name, so I had to email my friend and ask him, and sure enough... Anyway, I read what ramajoti read about the sacks, he has the school career sack record with another year to play, something like 24 or 25 in 2 seasons. I read where his coach was talking about Owen having 13 or 14 sacks as a junior and saying something like, "most of those battles were over in two steps," apparently the kid is pretty quick for a big guy. Like phil says, an athletic guy with a 6'6" 235 frame at 17 years old... he could look very different in a couple years in a program like UW. FWIW, Owen's cousin is pretty supple on the heavy metal guitar.

Posts: 2317 March 20, 2012 9:16 AM	With size, speed/quickness, and athletic ability like that, he could go a couple of ways - DE or OT. He might be the kind of athlete that could be a game changing LT like Thomas or Carimi, but this past year we saw what kind of a difference a game changing DE can have on a defense after losing Watt a year early.

This is the only mention I could find, I don't have a subscription to read the story, but the teaser pretty clearly lists: (1) Badgers offering another junior, and (2) Salzwedel getting his first D1 offer, as two separate items.
