I don't know the answer, I'm just asking that's all.

Maybe all 3 frosh will RS. UW continues as RB University. 2 guys again with 1000' yards? Gordon got high praise.Kinda had high hopes for Stave after the poise he showed in last year's spring game. Could still happen.WRs? Need a couple.

Need a couple. Agree with a lot of this. I would lessen the enthusiasm some for the LBs. Good, with the potential to be the best. I wish some of the security at LB could be transferred to DBs. Trotter (S) gets a continuous earful from coaches about keeping contain, Caputo (in limited viewing) has a very natural feel for lanes and containment. I really hope the experience starts paying off for Southward and Johnson. Smart kids with lots of talent. The coaches were giving Hugs (in just a couple of practices witnessed) lots of reps considering his class standing. Peniel Jean has no problem with contact, even against some of UW's hard-running tailbacks. Definitely a physical CB. Complete agreement on the OL. In fact I am surprised, in a small way, that fans have any concern about the OL. I suppose it stems from being spoiled and from some perceived drop off in 2011. I would contend that drop off was more a function of TE blocking than at OL. The OL is scary deep. Tailback U to be sure, but I am not so sure we have 2 1,000 yarders, in no small part because #3 (Gordon) is so good he might push #2. Melvin has a willingness to drop a shoulder at the end of a run that is very reminiscent of Walter Payton. I understand the hopes for Stave, but still think them misplaced. Great kid, great representative of UW (like just about all of the FBers you talk to) but, at the very least, it seems to me he is a year away from being able to lead a B10 championship team. He is still incosistent, though better. Definitely need WRs to step up, and there are a few candidates. But I'd argue it is more important for members of the D-Line to move from average to above average. Several of them.

Strange Brew eh wrote:Any thoughts on the DL. Last year it seemed that after our non-conference games many were high on our DL due to the numbers we had. My take on that was we had a bunch of average and not any very good/great. Thoughts this year. Should we expect an average unit again which puts pressure on the LBs and CBs? Our best teams have had atleast one outstanding DL player which helps to cover up a weakness somewhere else.

Andersen is a big-time coach. Alvarez, after two weeks of secrecy, just made a big-time hire. And now, Wisconsin is positioned to remain a big-time program for years to come. - Stewart Mandel
