Posts: 2505 April 16, 2012 9:08 PM	Wrong year to have a small class, with all of the in state talent this year. That said, James and Obasih become pretty important at the DE spots now. Sounds like Bret and crew have their work cut out for both, however. Need to get that fence back up!

Obasih maybe between Iowa & UW, though it sounds like he's looking for some other offers, like Mich and ND. I think/hope he picks UW in the end. I thought Natter was the top DE prospect. He has the most/best offers, but I wonder if Obasih might be better. I think he'll be more explosive. Of course, you really can't compare the two. Natter would be a SDE, while Obasih is likely a WDE.

I just can't think of a D player we lost in-state to another school that amounted to much in, say, last 10 years. I think Natter is more ready to play right away and more of a sure thing. I think that Obasih has the highest ceiling out of all of them. And I think that James is the best athlete out of the three.

Klein was the Big 12's co-defensive player of the year in 2011 as a junior. He's a LB for Iowa State.

Posts: 10473 April 16, 2012 10:06 PM Blissfully Disinterested	This is disappointing news, but I'm not sure it should be a big surprise. I don't follow recruiting religiously, but even I knew this upcoming class was going to be very small. I've read many places the talent in WI this year is as good and deep as it's been. When you add those two things up, it means UW wasn't going to come close to keeping 'em all in state, thus some kids are going to choose to play somewhere else because they can and they don't want to miss a chance at a free ride to a BCS school. It's bitter considering our history of essentially taking every top notch talent every year. We have to trust BB & Co know what they're doing and have faith in their ability to evaluate the talent and target the right kids. Besides, we've seen that kids who commit out of state often change their minds before it's all said and done. Let's see how things shake out come February 2013 before we wet the bed.

There was a starting OT for Michigan that we didn't land. that's considered doing pretty well, right? I think his name was Stennovich (?). John Navarre (sp?) also did well at QB for Michigan. We recruited him as a tight end. We haven't lost a lot of kids that mattered since Barry's arrival.

They lost Waynes(Kenosha Bradford) last year to MSU and Brooks(Milw Riverside) to Miami-OH a few years ago.(Both were offered) I don't see Waynes doing much, but Brooks was a very good player for the Redhawks, and is projected to go in rounds 2-3 in this year's draft.

I don't know that he was appreciably better than Morgan Davis. So he might have only started one year (the year Urbik started at RT as a RS frosh).

Defensive line is also an area we need to improve, as anyone watching our defense last season could see. Then again, recruiting isn't something I worry about as much as they do at other schools. UW has an incredible record of finding/developing the talent it needs to win without playing the star ratings game. As always, this post is written with the express proviso that I am not a chicken little. The sky is not falling. My office window does not have a ledge. I'm happy we won. I heard some ranked teams even lost. I'm glad we are not Virginia Tech. I like our coach. I know these are 19 year old kids. The season is young. Mistakes will get cleaned up. Fowler said even Alabama threw an interception once. The other guys are on scholarship, too. After living through the Don morton era, I'm just glad to be here.
