The other has the 'umble Oil (no "H" in Texas) refineries, Lamar University and five months of misery, followed by flash flooding.

Fireworks displays have been cancelled all over. I haven't heard a single firecracker all day. Everyone is indoors in the AC. A little depressing Fourth of July, really.

It's cleared up here in Co Springs, but it's still really hot out. Luckily, I have the next couple of days off as we're out of work until concrete is poured for our project. This shit down here (the project) has been one nightmare after another.

Fires, charcoal grills, fireworks, and target shooting all banned throughout the state. I bet we see 3 or 4 more fires started tonight from fireworks.

My neighborhood is usually a very social place, and on holidays people are out and talking to each other, but not today. I just got home from the store and not a soul is on the street.

Maybe 99 degrees? I think the dew point was in the mid 70s that day, too - real oven stuff. Not a good day to be pounding alcohol , and of course I had to stay around until they closed up. Found myself without a ride and no idea how to find a bus, so I ended up walking from Olin Park to University and Allen (about where the Octupus Car wash is or used to be). 3 miles in that weather, while sloshed. Smart. I was sober by the time I got home, though.
