You may well be just kidding, but I'll answer anyway. I saw a guy on the 247 board say that Vaughn had retweeted 6 other people's congrats to Dearring. So I'm taking it as a good thing.

Just yesterday Evan Flood said that he talked to someone close to Vaughn who said that staying close to home IS really important to him. Evan had also said earlier that Wisconsin is telling Vaughn that with Dekker, Koenig, and their other 2013 / 2014 recruits they're looking to change their style.

I was kidding, but I also think some people are reading something into Vaughn's tweet that I don't see. He knows his friend just committed to a very good program and he's happy for him. Doesn't necessarily mean he is more interested in Wisconsin now.

I seriously do not see what made UW make an offer now, they could of grabbed him very late into the process if needed. In the state of Wisconsin 2013 class he would be lucky to be in the top 20. He is not physical. He is not a good ball handler. He doesnt get up on the glass. He is not a player you would think of a future big ten player to play like.I hate to state the obvious.....My opinion is Wisconsin is getting concerned that they might not get a black player to commit for 2013 and Dearring would be a easy commit to fill that concern right now before its too late. Wisconsin has no issues getting the white players and they can/could get all they want. Because they lost black players in 2012 and added 2012 white players on a team that is over 50% white there is a concern. If you are a all white team it is hard to recruit black players and if you are a all black team, it is hard to recruit the white players (look at Marquette) Marquette tried to recruit white players in 2013 to little/no success. Its not a racism, its just the reality in College Basketball. College players are not drafted, so they get to pick where they want to go. It just shows up more in basketball than any sport because you only have 13 scholarship players and if you can have a team that is 50/50 or 60/40 either way, it makes for easier recruiting. Get a team that is 70/30...80/20 or 90/10 either way gets tougher to recruit. This is my thoughts because this offer came out of left field."Always remember", my first boss said, "that by definition, half the population is of less than average intelligence"

I did so looking for some reason to get excited about this commit. I just can't find it. He has historically been a key supporting cast member of fairly successful high school and AAU teams without any particular knack for scoring nor any demonstrable run and jump athleticism. He hasn't had any recent growth spurt nor any measurable uptick in production in games of late. I can only assume that something really clicked in his game this past month which coincided with the badger coaching staff watching him at camp and this last tournament. I have faith in the staff's (especially Gard's) scouting abilities. That's about all I think we, as fans, can rely on for this one -- aside from his fairly nice length.

He is wanting to stay closer to home, at least that is what the latest rumor is.

Riley does not have either of those outside of UW. UW sees something in Dearring that others do not, hopefully the staff is correct and Riley has a productive career in Madison.
