OSU allowed 49 for the following reasons

1. Our secondary, at the time was weak, and Indiana has a pass happy offense. If I'm not mistaken, we were close to last in the conference in passing defense...
2. Our linebacker, Sabino was injured the game before and we had to move Boren over to play his position which changed the defensive scheme of the game since Boren is normally a FB.
3. We've had injuries in the secondary but most of them are returning back.
4. Indiana offensive playing calling is good. I give them credit where credit is due.
5. Poor tackling. This has been a problem all year long not taking down people after the reception and allowing extra yards see the Cal game
6. Ohio State plays up/down to their level of competition.
7. Special teams play...

It was just a bad night for our defense. Probably the worst  performance I've seen since following OSU football. But lets move on from that game to the OSU vs.Wisconsin game this week.

@WilliamPacker: OSU usually does well vs. traditional running teams and takes out the stars of opposing player teams. For the MSU game, they were held to 34 rushing yards and their best player Bell was held to 45 yards on 17 carries. Nebraska 223 on 4 rushing TD's (kinda high). Penn State 32 yards rushing (PSU ground game is bad, and they are a pass happy offense as well). Purdue 117 Rushing yards. Wisconsin 2011 89 rushing yards, M.Ball 85 yards 1TD. I've only highlighted conference games from this year and the Wisconsin game last year but for the most part OSU has had a very excellent rush defense. They've finished in the top 10 nearly every year during the Tressel Era. I'm sure the guys will be fired up for this game, as it will present our toughest challenge for a team with a great run game. Miller throwing as you commented on has to develop still but he did look better against Illinois.

@Southfew: What OSU board are you looking at? Stats maybe... You are right to be warranted about Miller as his ability to escape and create plays on his feet is good. Moreover, OSU is conditioned well enough to run an up tempo style of game so there is that to worry about. However, if you are worried about how Wisconsin can defeat OSU, I would look at the following:

1. Running game for you guys as I'm sure we'll miss a few tackles.
2. Special team play. Badger capitalized on it in 2010 running the opening kickoff back for a TD. We've had 4 punts blocked, 2 for a TD, allowed 1 runback following the kick off. Just play better than us on special teams...
3. Throw the long ball, our secondary is skeptical at times.
4. Stacking the box (Wisconsin does this several times based on the games I've seen). It worked really well for Penn State and Michigan State on several plays.
5. Miracle play from C.Phillips or DOB. DOB hasn't been as clutch as expected but he can throw and C.Philips game (passing 4/7 Rushing 68 Passing 41 1 TD) while good yesterday it didn't really show his ability to throw the ball to Peterson or Abbrederis (I think I spelled that right). The completion percentage of these guys is nuts, and when I watch its almost as if they never ever drop a pass.
6. Good Linebacker/OL play. Borland and Taylor are really good athletes so I expect them to have great games and probably get a few sacks and a forced fumble.

I haven't watched a full Wisconsin game since the Nebraska game and parts of other games after that but I believe Wisconsin has more than enough talent on the field to win this game. I wished Stave was still playing so we could get your best shot. No need to be worried, Bret will have these kids FIRED UP. Here is to an injury free game. Feel free to ask more questions.
