I'm considering getting the extreme for my new iphone. If I do buy should I get the one that covers both the front and back? "NEVER TRUST ANYONE WITH MORE EARS THAN TEETH!"

You don't need one - just keep your keys in your other pocket. That said, I had a Zagg on my last phone, and they're REALLY good - they stay on tight and can take a beating. The drawback is that they limit your touchscreen ability a bit - dragging things on the screen is tougher and it's a bit less sensitive. -------------- Let no man think we can deny civil liberty to others and retain it for ourselves.

I think it does a good job of protecting the screen from scratches...if you get an annoying scratch in the plastic, replace it, it's cheap. If have kids that want to grab my phone and play a game, I do occasionally drop it, etc. Also, I read something that they did research on damage to dropped smart phones, and that these stick-on screen protectors were actually shown to prevent screen cracking and shattering better than the softer, full covers. Not that it provided padding, but just distributed impact pressure across a broader area reducing damage. I think the biggest difference in quality that might be worth paying more for is to limit the amount of distortion and dimming the protector inflicts on what you see through it. Posts: 1924 November 15, 2012 12:10 PM	I just got a new company phone, a Samsung Galaxy S II, and along with it came a device called an Otterbox. Apparently, some of my colleagues have gotten a little careless with their expensive smartphones, and the company has decided to do what it can to protect its investment. The Otterbox Defender consists of a two-piece hard plastic shell that snaps together top to bottom. The top is a clear plastic screen that does not limit finger access to the phone in any discernable way. Once you snap the two-piece shell together, the whole thing slides into a firm rubber case. The rubber case has an opening for the camera and little doors to access the speaker output and the charger. The rubber case is open on the side with the screen. The whole contraption then clips into a holder designed to clip onto your belt, if you're into the whole Batman-utility-belt thing. To get the thing apart, you need to employ Willie Sutton. I've dropped the phone a couple of times and it keeps on ticking. I don't think you could scratch this protective screen with an awl. It applied easily and it looks good- I can't even tell it's on there and it doesn't affect the touchscreen sensitivity. Probably not as good of quality but a similar plastic case and a couple of screen protectors for 10 bucks. The screen protectors last a long time and don't even remotely come close to affecting the touchscreen.

Posts: 2152 November 15, 2012 2:46 PM	I got a Droid Razr Maxx partly because it's rugged right out of the box. It's got a kevlar back, metal sides, and it's partially water resistant. It also has a larger battery than the regular Droid Razr. It kinda raises the question why Apple doesn't come out with a "ruggedized" version of the iPhone. The first thing anybody who gets an iPhone does is go out and get a bumper or a case which pretty much destroys all the manufacturing wizardry required to make it lightweight and elegant. So why not just make a version that's inherently drop-resistant?

Posts: 126 November 15, 2012 4:04 PM	Remove this ad a simple stick on screen protector is all you need, I got a 3 pack for my incredible that lasted the whole 2 years. As far as phone cases, they are for the most part a waste of money. Phones are built to handle drops, repeated drops. Unless you plan on slamming this thing into concrete walls every time you get mad, just stick with the screen protector.
