Fuck, fuck, fuck. I would go Bevell or Chryst. The Gophers, with a few occasional hiccups, were truly dominant basically from their inception all the way through the end of Bierman's first tenure (1941). Other than the 1961 and 1967 seasons, they've been more or less the same every year since 1941 - mediocre-to-poor. Since 1967, the Gophers have finished 3rd in the Big Ten three times. Of course, they've never finished 1st or 2nd in that time frame.

Chryst and Doeren (I know he just signed with NCState, but those things can be undone) would feel alright. I don't really want anyone who wasn't part of Bielema's coaching team.

He knows it won't happen. I heard it suggested that Danny Hope would be the perfect choice, because he'd made Wisconsin look very good during his tenure at Purdue.

His experience: GB "coaching" Favre and MN as offensive coordinator and now Seattle offensive coordinator. I imagine he is pretty well settled in his position in Seattle. I am disappointed in our coaching leaving. I wonder whether it had to do with limited funds for assistants. He pointedly mentioned in post-game of the B1G Championship losing 6 assistants and how hard that was. Chryst doesn't seem too much of a public relations guy. However, maybe that is balanced by the Wisconsin roots. As others have mentioned though, will the rift (real or imagined) with Alvarez (allegedly promising Chryst the job when Alvarez left) preclude Chryst coming back, after only a year at Pitt?
