If he were to coach at Wisconsin, the questions about following in his dad's footsteps would be constant and something I get the feeling Tony would not enjoy. You can't say he tried to forge his own as he followed his dad to Pullman and then took over the program. Trying to forge his own would be what Tanner Bronson @ St. Louis or what Freddie Ownes @ Montana is doing. He used the connections when it helped him.

It seemed pretty clear the Bennetts were hired as a package in Pullman. Many college coaches use their connections to get their foot in the door. Bennett is no different. It's an absolute paradox. The bacon must have been finished, thus disallowing the possibility of 'leftover'. And yet, were that impossibility to occur, surely it would be good. -LeviBooth

UVA was his going a new direction on his own and I just don't see him going back to any of his or Dick's former jobs. Going with Dick to WSU was the fastest way to be a BCS D1 coach. Going to UVA was a raise and a much better program. UVA, when running on all cylinders could be a very good coaching job.

And I agree with slimm's implication that his record to this point, while solid, is unspectacular. You could obviously say that about Rob Jeter as well. I think Greg Gard is a terrific assistant coach and recruiter, but I'm not sure Barry will see this program as one where you hire an assistant. So that, in a nutshell, is why I think it's unlikely any of those guys is the next coach. I honestly have no idea who the next coach will be -- but I don't think it will happen any time soon. Of course, I also didn't expect us to be looking for a football coach. I think Barry would hold Bo's opinion in very high regard.
