I hated to leave Madison, but I lived there as a student up through my early 20s. There is undoubtedly no better place to live for someone in that demographic. However, for a working adult, Pittsburgh is easily Madison's equal on every level, and its superior on quite a few. It has the advantages of a larger city that Madison does not, yet is not so large a place as to be suffocating. Although I'm not a native, I've lived in Pittsburgh for nearly 30 years, and I would absolutely hate to leave.

While at a bar the Friday night before the game enjoying a few beers with my friends and cousin, I was told by a bartender if I didn't leave he would "jizz on my face" and Badger fans applauded around.

Wife and kids would care what city you're in but as an HC in today's college football world you probably spend about five minutes per week somewhere other than your the stadium and football facilities, your office, your car, and your bed. Pretty much in that order, too, lol.

Two years, no bowl games, very uncertain future. He seems like more of an east coast guy, and that would be the one thing about him that would concern me--whether he would be committed long-term. Because, you know, Bielema was obviously committed long-term.

Because, you know, Bielema was obviously committed long-term. I'm surprised he hasn't come up more either, but if he's an east coast guy doesn't that make him a really good fit? We've had a lot of success with PA and NJ recruits in the past and with the way the conference is moving and PSU having fewer scholarships this would make a lot of sense. I know for a few years there was talk he'd replace Paterno at PSU if the job ever came open. .

I'd have expected them to be better too, but I believe he does have a very young team.

The situations were not perfectly comparable (what is?), but far from inapt. There's no doubt that the quality of one city relative to another has very little impact on a young coach's day-to-day life. Hell, there are plenty of coaches who are eager to go to places like Waco, and the only place in America that could conceivably be worse than Waco is Beaumont. I'd have expected them to be better too, but I believe he does have a very young team. With Miami self-imposing a post-season ban for the 2nd year in a row, it would seem the NCAA drama perhaps is a bit more serious and/or involved than previously thought. This would certainly suggest why Golden might want to try his luck someplace else. And why not Wisconsin? Talk about a situation ready-made for a fast start. Has to be appealing for any coach.

I just spent time in Waxahachie and Ennis, Tx. There's worse. I was being kind of homer when I said that. My Mom used to have regional meetings there and said Pittsburgh is a nice city. Of course, 5-0 would disagree.
