Are helmet manufacturers developing helmets that are padded on the outer shell? (think Safer Barriers like those used in major auto racing) Steve Wallace (ex 49er) and Mark Kelso (ex Buffalo Bill) come to mind as to who used this technology to avoid concussions, and extend their careers.

Same as it ever was. Not for me. I have been going to games for a long time, and have maybe missed 3 games in the last 15 years. Great seats on the 35 yard line. I've been telling my buddy for the last year I just don't enjoy the way the game is played anymore (I can't determine if the game is morphing into Arena or Flag Football) and on top of it, the stadium experience is more like going to a rock concert. With the Playoff ticket renewal deadline of yesterday, I told him I am done, not renewing P'off tx for the first time. I have little to no interest in going to the games anymore. Maybe it would be different if I only went to 1 or 2 per year, but 6-8 per year is too boring, and, a bad ROI.

Yeah but those two always looked like fucking dorks. They may have looked like dorks, but we haven't heard of either one of them having a Dave Duerson nor Mike Webster moment either. It's been 15 years since either Kelso or Wallace played. I'm sure padding technology has improved to provide better protection with a thinner layer of padding since then.
