An MU booster buddy who is sort of sick of what goes on there clued me in right when it happened. He must not have been going to class to get suspended at MU. My understanding is that Mayo dropped a class he was doing poorly in rather than fall below gpa needed for eligibility. That left him below the ncaa mandated credits making him ineligible for the semester. By comparison he would have been ineligible longer with a poor gpa. It was a calculated move.

Any student who drops a class to save their gpa is making a calculated move. Obviously Mayo and those running the program understood the rules.
