A lot of teams ahead of them in the top 10 lost today so there's a pretty good shot they will be top 10 in the AP by Christmas. Again, solid but not exceptional team in my opinion. No quality wins unless you want to count an 18 pt loss to Duke. Best win was over a 7-4 Memphis team. Their ranking is more of a function of how strong the B1G is this year more than anything, definitely over ranked.

Posts: 4111 December 27, 2012 8:38 PM	Tubby has had some really good talent over his time there but because of legal issues, grades, injuries, and various personal problems it was high risk and availability of some of these guys has been hit and miss other seasons. Outside of Mbakwe still working his way back to 100% they aren't dealing with a bunch of problems like in the past so I'm not overly surprised they are looking pretty good.

Anybody pay attention to the problems the Rockets have with Royce White? The Sport Ill article a month back or so on the Rockets GM was very interesting. Effectively he said to win in the NBA you need 3 Stars. He built his roster this year so that he had the flexibility to get 1 superstar via trade. He didn't care who just that he needed one. His roster allowed him to get Harden. Then with their pick in the draft he, like other GMs thought Royce was a top 5 physical talent so he gambled on him for potential #2. That one is not working out so far. I have no idea how the Mayor over @ ISU got White to be a team player last year after his episodes in HS, Minnesota and now with the Rockets.

Closer game than the scoreboard indicated, but they pulled away at the end instead of collapsing in typical Minnesota fashion. Andre/Austin Hollins are both really athletic and can shoot. We are going to have to improve a lot to hang with them.

The way to beat the Goophs Do not turn the ball over Do not give up offensive rebounds Make them play against a set halfcourt defense. A lot of size and depth but you have to make them beat you by shooting over the top and not giving up easy points. Pretty simple but the Goophs have a lot of long mature athletes this year. There half court offense per usual under tubby is not a strength.

The issue with the rockets isn about being a team player. They are dealing with a mental health issue. White has made the determination that his mental health is more important than anything else. Which is kinda true, bu also sounds like bs. Which IMHO sounds like more mental health issues. White has a host of mental issues, anxiety, heights, flying, etc. and the rockets knew that comin in. They have acted terribly to him.
