I almost never lost any beer when I shotgunned. You know that useless blade on your Swiss Army Knife - the awl (aka leather puncher)? It was a perfect tool for doing the shotgun punch. In Finn's defense, aluminum beverage cans are quite a bit thinner than they were in the 80s and 90s. As a result, a clean punch may be much more difficult to accomplish. A Cherry Diet Dr. Pepper can fell in my garage last week. What happened to the can was quite impressive - a split the entire length of the can (maybe the seam?). All the soda was out of that can in less than a second.
