Someone tweets something, and you read their tweet. You update the tweets by either refreshing the app on your phone or refreshing twitter on your computer. The only notifications that you get are when someone tweets "@" you, such as @boulderbadger or @shotofwiskie. You can turn those off too I believe. I mostly use it as a news source, but occasionally exchange some tweets with friends. Some good ones to follow: @ColFootballNews @WSJ @Rob Delaney @dave_heller @ESPN_BigTen @TheOnion @slmandel (SI C-Football writer) @GrantWahl @nytimes @adbrandt (Andrew Brandt, some of the best NFL info out there) @js_badgers @jaypo1961 @TheBadgerNation

Only if you follow fucktards that post their every thought on Twitter. I followed Jermicheal Finley on twitter for about a day until he posted "lost my keys, some1 no where they @?". I mostly follow professional news organizations or professional writers, people like that, so random musings about their baby's bowel movements or how shitty their day is going is pretty much non existent.

Remove this ad Quick sidebar/sign of the times: I was going to list some of the tweeps I follow and almost got up from the computer to get my phone. (Of course after reading this thread, I realize that little anecdote will be lost on 99% of the audience here.) Personally, aside from family, friends, co-workers, etc., two of my more interesting follows: @awfulannouncing For whatever reason I have over the years become very tuned into sports announcers and the quality of their work. So I love this one. Catches/notes a lot of the foul-ups out there. @AndrewBrandt Outstanding insight into the $ in pro sports contracts. The rest of them are some funny people (like Craig Ferguson, Conan O'Brien, Daniel Tosh, The Onion, etc.) and many of the Wisconsin sports media (TGP, Mulhern, Polzin, Haudricourt, etc.). I also have a ton of political folks I follow for work, but that's not germane here. Oh ... and I do follow @RealEricTheRed.
