Ungrammatic as it is, that first line is a doozy.
In need search of more athleticism, the University of Wisconsin has added a fifth piece to its 2008 recruiting class. The writer must have been choking as he wrote that. |

He comes from grapplin' stock...sweet!
"The addition of Evans presumably means that Kevin Gullikson, a senior-to-be who was on scholarship in the last two seasons, will return to walk-on status. It also means that the Badgers don't have any more scholarships available for the 2009 class at this point. Among the players in that class is Racine Horlick standout Jamil Wilson."

Anyone know what position he is going to play?
This will hopefully help with our backcourt depth next year. |

I'll be astonished if this guy plays next year. I hope the guy is quick enough to guard on the wing, because a 6'6" 185 lb guy who says he is a
pretty good shot blocker doesn't sound strong enough to play in the Big 10. I don't care if we didn't get Wilson, there is still some really good
'09 talent out there to go after a wing player who shot just 30% from 3 in his senior year in high school.
I like the talent we have brought in on the whole, but this kid couldn't get a sniff from a Pac 10, WAC, Mountain West, or the WCC schools. I'm a little skeptical on this one. |

He's an '08 recruit and is quoted from a Rivals article that he will be on full scholarship.

Anyone else find it intriguing that we landed a player for each position, 1-5.
1 - Jordan Taylor 2 - Robert Wilson 3 - Ryan Evans 4 - Jared Berggren 5 - Ian Markolf If Bo thought Evans was worth the scholarship, then that is good enough for me. |

Anybody know why he didn't commit before this. growing, overlooked?
I don't really care if he's good enough for Bo, he's good enough for me. I'm just wondering why so late in the process. Grades, etc. |

He's a late bloomer.
Didn't play as a soph. Was cut from his team. Transferred to another school. They were a senior dominated team, so he didn't get much attention. As a senior, he finally got his chance and really blossomed. Looked very good in a couple of AAU showcases in Phoenix. Camps that featured some of the top players on the west coast. The guy with arizona preps thinks he's a very good prospect. He'll need to redshirt to develop physically. A year in the weight program, and he might be around 200-210, at 6-6. One thing to think about - when this kid finally showed what he could do, most schools already had their classes filled. Most programs are finished with their classes in the fall. It's rare to get in on a kid during his senior year. He developed late enough that everyone missed on him. |

You know a guy named Michael Jordan was only 5'11'' and got cut from his HS team during his sophomore year. I think we better give this kid a
chance to play before we start saying this was a mistake.

Badgerman- thanks for the update. So I guess we are done in 08 and 09. That means Jamil Wilson is probably not coming huh?

Well, the staff is still recruiting guys in the 2009 class. They could be making sure their bases are covered, and just planning for the unexpected, which is
the smart thing to do. They could also have an idea that there may be an opening for 2009. Either one is possible.

A bird in hand...
Bo has shown he knows what he's doing. This kid is a late bloomer, as others have noted. He sounds like the "slasher" type many people have been calling for. He also comes from a Big Ten family and has loads of relatives who have played a variety of sports at the university level (including many in the Big Ten). For this to have gone down as quickly as it has says to me that both parties really wanted it to happen - great news! Welcome aboard, Ryan!
Shake off all fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in
her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God, because, if there be one, he must more
approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear.
