Not a good outing but he got fucked six ways on Sunday. At least 3 clear strikes called for balls, and at least 5 other pitches that would have been close
enough in any other inning of this game. Add in a terrible safe call at first, and this easily could have been a save.

The Brewers got hosed on that Geoff Blum "hit."

You can say he got squeezed, but you can't walk in the tying run. Serve it up on a platter if you have to.

Good logic, then instead of walking in the tying run you give up the winning run on a base hit by throwing up meat? Come on, it's a different game with 2
outs and a runner on 1st. They blew the call and then started squeezing Gagne at the plate. I'm not a fan of blaming the ump, but the replay showed he was
out at 1 and when Scroeder starts questioning balls and strikes you know something ain't right.

I don't like "blaming" the ump either, but that squeezing completely fucks a guy in this situation. Your choice is to walk guys with strikes on
the corners call for balls or throw home run balls to some hot, powerful hitters. You can't possibly win unless they decide to swing badly or swing at bad
pitches.

There is a 3rd option when an umpire is screwing you: Call a pitch out, and fire a 90 mph fastball head high at the ump to send him a message.

I like it badgerman. I listen to all the games on internet radio (no FSN WI in Philly...), so I can't see if Gagne is getting squeezed.
You have to adjust in the big leagues, though. I hope Torres can pitch the Crew out of this one. Fire up the bats, Jobu! |

This game has been unfuckingbelievable. Yes, Gagne was getting squeezed big time. Yes, Blum was out at first. Yes, Sheets was safe at home.
However, the FUCKING OFFENSE HAS TO SCORE A RUN AFTER THE 4TH INNING!

Timster - you really think it's ok to score six runs in four innings and then shut it down against that offense in that ballpark?
Edit - they didn't score for eight innings! This one should be have been a blow out that took all of those other things that the Brewers can't control out of the equation. The Brewers didn't allow that to happen.

So you really think it's ok that the Brewers didn't score after the 4th and went for eight scoreless innings against Houston in that bandbox. If not
being alright with that makes me (or my premise) an idiot, I guess the shoe fits.
Not scoring add on runs gave Houston the chance to gain momentum and come back. An add on run or two is huge. They got in trouble often last year because they couldn't tack on runs when they got the lead and today was no different.

I'll take six runs in the first inning and not scoring another run, any game. It doesn't matter if you score 0,0,0,1,1,1,1,1,1 or 6,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,
it's still six runs. You shouldn't have to score more with your ace pitching, anyways. Six runs a game would be 972 runs over a 162 game season.

I'm gonna go out an a limb and take the point and the counterpoint.
The Brewers definitely were up against two team (the Astros and the Umps) today. That said, how many times did the Brewers strand the bases loaded this weekend? At least four that I remember. |

6 runs should be enough, that doesn't mean you shut the bats down after scoring 6 though. Fuck, JJ Hardy had the bases loaded 3 times this series and came
away with nothing everytime.

Bingo. Every game, every team, every stadium is different. This game against the Padres, Dodgers, or Giants on the road - it's over. Against Houston in Houston it's not over.

Gagne struck the same guy out twice. He's a pro; that happens. But it's hard to blame the guy when he was actually throwing pretty good pitches.

I agree that the Brewers needed to put up more runs. Remember last season when the Brewers would get out to an early lead of 3+ runs and proceeded to lose the
game? You should, because they did it something like 47 times. Six runs should be enough to win most games, but 8+ runs should be enough to win every game.
I'm beginning to think that we Brewer fans need to start hoping for another winning season rather than a playoff berth...though I'm sure a two game winning streak will change my opinion. 1) If having a man-crush on Russell Branyan is wrong, then I don't wanna be right.
