Favre lies |
Lead | ||
|
I just saw some of the video from the interview on Fox News. I think he is a liar. Body language, stammering, not making any sense, hand covering face.
Disappointing. I know a lot of the NFL is built on a myth that the players love the game. Favre seemed like a throwback. Now he's just another
disappointing hero. I know, I know, NFL players shouldn't be a hero. Lesson learned. He's a liar.

Sorry Southfew, I'm not here to argue, but to add that he is completely self-absorbed. Some of his comments about how he wanted kids to be able to see the
locker where he dressed at Lambeau were over the top. His attitude is that if it isn't good for Brett Favre, then it isn't good for anyone. It is also
a common trait among addicts to be manipulative and dishonest.
Sad, really. This is coming from someone that cried the day he retired. |

What has he "lied" about? He's whined, he's tried to insist that everybody do things his way and he's been self-absorbed. But calling him a liar is just flat out off-base. And he's still the best QB option for the Packers in '08 for anybody that cares about winning.
So there. |

transcript of the interview is here.
I take issue with at least the last part: So if you've moved on, you tell me one thing, don't come back and tell the public, just say it, we've moved on and we'll work with Brett on whatever it is. Don't make up a lot of stuff or give half of the truth. ... I mean, it's ridiculous, it really is." May seem like an innocuous statement, but his body language and the tone of voice when he said this just caused my BS detector to go off the charts. He is making it seem like the Packers are being two-faced and that doesn't seem to be the case to me. They have appeared to me to be straightforward. It is Favre who is making up a lot of stuff or giving have of the truth. I mean, it's ridiculous, it really is. There are at least two issues: 1. should Favre start for the Pack? My answer: yes, he is the best QB on the roster. 2. is Favre a liar? Yes. |

Of course you're wrong, like that guy or anybody else is wrong.
Having said that, look at the transcript or watch the interview again. What I think #4 was referring to were Packer management misrepresentations to the public about him playing in GB again. I believe #4 was told that "playing in GB was not an option." But the public was told something else, something not consistent with that message. Second, I believe #4 was told that he had to make a decision on retirement or not by March 3; in fact, to be more precise, I believe Brett when he says he got calls from MM every week after a two week grace period at the end of the season, hounding him about his decision. To the extent the Packers didn't make it clear that they were hounding him, that could be a half-truth. Look, I'm not indicating at all that Brett has handled himself well. I do take exception with calling him a liar. I'm with Greta on that - Brett came off in the interview as honest and sincere. And I still insist that he's the absolute best QB option for the Packers in '08. If Ted - I drafted Justin Harrell and Jordy Nelson in the 1st Round - Thompson doesn't see that, to hell with him. Finally, McCarthy is the guy who deserves the most credit for the team's success last year, and I don't see many people being astute enough around here to recognize that fact. So go piss yourself. |

Thursday, January 10, 2008TOP 10 REASONS WHY BRETT FAVRE IS COMING BACK"If the last two years have told us anything, after NBC last year, it's that we really don't know what he's going to do," backup quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. "It's really out of my control. I've learned the last three years that the only things I worry about are in my control. I can't control what he does. I can just control my preparation for Seattle. Until he says 'I'm coming back' or 'I'm retiring,' there's really nothing I can do."10. Really enjoys jerking Aaron Rodgers around 9. Makes his "too busy" excuse as to why he can't hang out with Mark Chmura seem legit 8. Just can't quit John Madden 7. Secretly hates living in Mississippi 6. Wants to test if everyone will still support him when he goes back to throwing a ton of interceptions 5. With every touchdown and passing yard, makes another part of Dan Marino die 4. Still feels the desire to prove the Falcons wrong for trading him 3. Knows that seeing him dominate the league just eats at Aikman, Young, Esiason, Simms and all of the other nancy-boy announcer QBs that just weren't man enough to avoid injuries 2. Refuses to give up his legal right as Wisconsin's Overlord to have sex with any resident of his choosing 1. By announcing that he's coming back, has perfectly set up the media for the next round of retirement speculation What really pisses me off is seeing e. longoria in the lineup tonight and getting evan instead. Jagoffs. |

I've gotta agree with Southfew here. In the interview he does not strike me as being sincere. It was an interview with someone hand-picked by his camp who
refused to ask any tough questions. All of the questions were simply asking him to tell his side of the story and he still stammered and bounced all over the
place.
The issue of his qualifications to play/start are irrelevant to this thread. The only question here is, "Do you believe everything he said in the interviews is the 100% truth?" I do not.

Brett's already done the booze, the pills, the womanizing - I get the sense now he's addicted to the verbal fellatio and absolute power he has/had as Packer QB extraordinaire. The stunt he's pulling isn't unlike that of a corrupt African or South American dictator realizing that their days are numbered...slash and burn to retain control. |

Me thinks Bus is driving this bus and Brett is eatin' all up (as they say in the Bayou country). I don't expected the Pack to react this way (the fans
either) hoping for the unconditional release to go to the Vikes.
Hope this over by the end of this week.
Its BOLieveable.
