This is old (about 4-5 years) but is a good survey about tailgating throughout the country:

2002 TAILGATING CHAMPIONS
Although Sophie and I loved every parking lot we visited, the following cities are deserving of special recognition when it comes to their tailgaters and tailgating facilities.
Best Tailgating - Professional:
- Kansas City - Lots of reasons why they're among the best, but above all, Chiefs fans know how to barbecue.
- Buffalo - The only stadium where you can come as early and stay as late as you want, and where RVs, limos, buses and cars have their own parking lots.
- Green Bay - Bring on the rain, freezing temps and snow. Nothing stops a Packer fan from tailgating and they're great at showing their team support by sporting their green and gold.
Best Tailgating - College*:
- Louisiana State University - They're serious about their partying, but they're very serious about their food. Bring on the Gumbo, Jambalaya and Etoufee!
- Penn State - Happy Valley is appropriately named. Penn State has the most land to tailgate, and they need it with approximately 40,000 tailgaters.
- University of Georgia and University of Michigan - It's a tie. Georgia has Southern hospitality and the dawgs, and Michigan has the big house and the golf course.
*However, all colleges where there's fun, football and tailgating, are considered Champions in my book.
